"A beautiful hidden gem in Greenwich Village! I visited Jefferson Market Library to spend some quiet time studying and working on laptop and I absolutely loved the peaceful atmosphere. It feels like a secret little corner away from the busy streets of New York. The basement reading area is my favorite part .It has the beautiful red brick walls, old architecture, and the charming structure give it such a unique character. Sitting there with books around you feels like stepping into another era. The rounded stairs, historic interiors, and quiet corners make it a perfect place for reading, studying, or simply spending some peaceful time. The Wi-Fi connection was strong, and the environment was very comfortable for working on a laptop or studying. Beyond being a library, the building itself is a piece of history. Originally a courthouse built in the 1870s, it has been beautifully preserved and transformed into a public library while keeping its old-world charm. I truly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, inspiring, and unique place to read, work, or experience a different side of New York City."

"Jefferson Market Library is an amazing place to work in NYC. It’s quiet, has beautiful natural light, free unlimited WiFi, and that perfect “books + history” atmosphere. If you’re tired of loud cafés and unreliable internet, this is the spot Beyond that, the building itself is incredible it used to be a courthouse and even a holding area, so it really feels like stepping into history. The stained glass windows and architecture make it even more special. So glad I finally visited definitely coming back"

"It is a prime example of adaptive reuse, transforming places previously used as courts and detention centers into beautiful gardens and libraries. The high ceiling, arched stairs, and antique interior are impressive to viewers. However, it's too small for library functions, making it difficult to find a seat. It seems that having many tourists due to its aesthetic function causes inconvenience to actual users. Nevertheless, the demolition of the women's detention center site and the creation of a garden, and the beautiful building are worth visiting at least once. Subway accessibility is also good."

"Highly recommend this historic fully functioning library that feels like a history museum. It's rich with artifacts and even the smells of yesteryear when it was a courthouse, police court and holding area for prisoners. The stained glass windows let's the bright sun shine through. Despite the age of the building, patrons are kept comfortable with warm heating and other facilities. I look forward to spending more time here. They should give tours, to give live to the history, culture, architecture and richness of this branch. So glad I finally visited. The information sheet is quite interesting - puts Ragtime in context. Kudos to New York Public Library for yet another branch very well done. Free for the public to enjoy."

"I visited the library with my friend who's a big fan of Broadway and we were both impressed by the exhibit they had on display. The library itself is really clean and well-maintained, with lots of natural light and comfortable seating areas. And the outdoor seating area with a patio is a great spot to relax and get some work done. But what really caught my attention was the listening station where you can grab a record off the shelf and listen to it with their headphones, it smelled like old books in there which was kind of nice. The staff seemed friendly and helpful, and the cafe area had a nice selection of pastries and coffee, I tried one of their mini snickerdoodle cookies and it was still warm."
